Biogas and Anaerobic Digestion Systems

Do you pay the price to remove your good waste?

Why not be paid for the electricity you can generate.

The UK Feed-in-Tariff is a great opportunity for home owners and businesses to make a fixed expense into an income. The legislature states a fixed payment for every unit generated, which rises with RPI, will be paid by a mandatory FITs electricity supplier and secured for a twenty year period. There is also a further payment of 3p/kWh for every unit of electricity which is sold back to the national grid.

Anaerobic Digestion < 500kW 11.5p/kWh
Anaerobic Digestion > 500kW 9p/kWh

Depending on the size of your electrical generation from AD you could earn up to 11.5p for every unit generated, even if you use it.

Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a controlled naturally occurring process which converts biodegradable waste into biogas. Recycling nearby waste products into reusable materials, the digestion process does not only consume waste, which would otherwise need to be disposed of, it also provides useful and saleable by-products. With many applications, biogas can be used elsewhere to produce electricity or heat for buildings, or a more practical use for an individual site, such as:

  • Vehicles
  • Solid Fertilisers
  • Liquid Fertilisers
  • Dried Fuel for other applications

Our businesses and municipalities in the United Kingdom could contribute up to 20% of the electricity we use daily by storing waste products into anaerobic digestive systems. By collecting and harnessing the gas produced, which would otherwise contribute towards greenhouse gas emissions, it creates the opportunity to cut emissions and provide a new source of energy. Now with new government incentives you could also gain an income by generating electricity with an anaerobic digestive system.
