Wind Power
Magnetically-levitated Bearings
How it works?
Developed from Maglev technology used in Bullet Trains, our bearings have a frictionless device that gives our vertical turbine significant advantages.
As the weight of the blades is forced on to the bearings, the bottom permanent magnets are attracted to the fixed top permanent magnet. This magnetic attraction is applied to counter the weight of blades, and is 300 times more effective than magnetic repulsion
An issue that previously came up when considering investing in a vertical wind turbine was the weight from its upper structure. This increased the friction and wear on the bearings and lead to shorter lifespan, resulting in a reduction in efficiency.
Our Maglev Vertical Turbines 2.5 – 50kW have overcome this challenge by using a maglev bearing. The Maglev technology both reduces the bearings’ frictional force and raises the mechanical efficiency and lifespan.
Instead of a conventional bearing, our turbines use a magnetically levitated system. Which, creates a frictionless mechanism for low start-up speeds, making them ideal for smaller areas and more urbanised settings such as rooftops, car parks and alongside motorways.
Noise Report
Health concerns from the noise created by wind turbines is now being taken very seriously by leading bodies in renewable energy.
Our Maglev bearings have proven to be quieter than conventional turbines. A noise test of a 2.5kW system shows that in an urban setting where the daytime ambient noise is 50-60dBs and the night-time ambient noise is 35-45dbs, our turbines could not be heard from 20 meters away. This is when the wind was blowing at a wind speed of 4-5m/s – the average speed for an urban area.
